About Us

The Emerald Coast Modern Quilt Guild (ECMQG) is a group of modern quilters located in the Panhandle of Florida who are interested in meeting other modern quilters, or those who are interested in becoming a modern quilter.  (For more information on what the Modern Quilt Guild movement is, please go here.)

We have monthly Meet and Sews the second Saturday of every month (unless otherwise noted).  The meeting part will start at 10 am.  At the meetings, we will talk about modern quilting, fabric, modern fabric designers, and sewing techniques, as well as have time for show and tell, where we can show off our modern creations or WIPs.  We will get to know each other by having swaps, wherein we will make various quilting-related items and swap those items with other members.

Around noon (or whenever the meeting part is over), we'll set up to sew for several hours (usually until about 6 pm).  During the sew, you can work on whatever projects you need to get done.  It's a great chance to catch up on quilting projects, while sewing with friends!

At our January 2013 meeting, we will start collecting annual dues of $20.  Your first meeting is free.  Second meeting, if you're still unsure about joining, then it's $5.  After that, we'd ask that you pay the full $20.

If this is new for you, and you're still not sure what modern quilting might look like, please feel free to check out The Modern Quilt Guild's Flickr Group or the ECMQG's Flickr Group for some beautiful examples.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at emeraldcoastmqg@gmail.com

We hope to see you soon!
