August 2020 Guild Meeting

We were finally allowed to meet and it was wonderful! So good to see everyone in real life! lol We of course wore masks and didn't have a lot of members show, but we would do whatever it takes to be able to meet. We all had such a good time.

After all the hellos were done, we got down to business. We talked of future programs like freezer paper piecing and we discussed a future retreat, a sewing day and ideas for our fall swaps. Fall mug rugs won out and who can't use another mug rug? lol

First up after going over business items was the completed Round Robins. They are gorgeous!

We did door prizes in between other fun things but I forgot to get a pic of the beautiful solids that were available.

We also had several months of block lotteries to get through.

6 months of gorgeous blocks! Here is our block for September:

It is a 90 degree improve triangle. This is going to be fun! We will be using tone on tone for the cream or white (your choice.)

Since many of us have had a lot of time off, there were a lot of amazing items for show and tell:

Well done ladies!!

We had a welcome back bucket raffle with some awesome goodies in it:

We also have some very generous ladies. Below are all the items that we donate for the church. There were snacks and diapers. These will go for a good cause.

It was such a good meeting and I for one, can not wait until next month. We all hope more members can make it. Remember ladies to bring your own lunch goodies since we will not be cooking for the group for awhile.

April = Quarantine = Sewing!

May 2020

Hi everyone! We had a zoom meeting and it was so good to see you ladies! We have lots of good things coming up and hopefully we will be able to do them in person. For the next several meetings, we will be doing bagged lunches. There will be no need to bring food to share. I know that we love to share, but we will have to wait a little longer. ;) Below are some of the fun things everyone has been working on:

Diane was busy making pouches

Natalie was busy playing with blocks

Sally made adorable kids aprons

Sally showed us her beautiful quilt in the Mexican Star pattern that she made for a co-worker

And of course, lots of us have been busy making masks. I for one can not wait for this Covid-19 to be gone so we can all get together again. Even through all this, we have obviously been busy ladies!

We are looking tentatively at meeting in June with precautions in place. That will be a great meeting for show and tell!!

March Comes In Like a Lion

We all know the saying and right now, it seems pretty appropriate. We hear at the Emerald Coast Modern Quilt Guild hope that everyone is doing well.
We now have some extra time on our hands since we are quarantined so lets see what we have been up to:

Some of us have been making masks. I'm so glad to be learning this. It is keeping me busy and helping me feel like I'm giving back.

I know with mine, bottom pink one, it is pretty easy, but I made my own adjustments (don't all of us sewers do that? lol.) Garbage bag ties come in very handy for this project.  lol

Maureen was very busy! This is awesome!

Directional quilting

The Back

Cubed quilting!

Diane made a special quilt out of special materials for a special someone!

Diane was caring for her uncle who had passed away. He’d been gifted many cotton boxers over the years and she included the fabrics in this quilt. It will be gifted to his granddaughter.  Love this Diane!

This she made from her leftovers after making the Hoffman challenge quilt. The center she named Northstar.

Lisa is continuing to work on her blocks from the mini curve ruler. When this quilt is done, it is going to be amazing!

Natalie has been busy with finishing up her flamingo quilt that she started during our retreat. How can you NOT love this??

This is a woven wall hanging she created

And she made a scarf because, well, it was cold where she was visiting. lol

I got some hand embroidery kits just in time for the quarantine. I'm learning a lot and am really enjoying it.

A surprise for Maureen

I love our guild!! There are so many sweet ladies that think of others. Below is what Maureen used for a pin cushion. I actually kind of like it. ha ha

This one was a gift from Loree to replace the above masterpiece. lol

Loree made note of her love of polka dots, which they both have in common. the back is so adorable. It reminds us of the girly quilts Maureen has made.

Here is what our block lottery block was supposed to be for March. Simple and pretty colors. I hope we get to do the lottery for these soon!

Well, there you have it. We are doing our best to keep up with each other and keep busy during this trying time. We hope all of you are doing the same.
